A couple in our congregation recently lost their son in-law. He had been married to their daughter for seven months. His sudden death was a shock to everyone. Why did their daughter have to become a widow at 25? And why do you have to endure your particular trial? The reason these things perplex us, is because we do not have all the facts. We see only a part of the puzzle. God, however, sees the whole picture. Yet to us his ways are past finding out (Rom. 11:33, KJV). Even if He were to explain it all to us, we still would not understand. We must simply learn to hold fast to his promise: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Rom. 8:28).
