Your longing to know some special person or created thing is but a faint echo of your thirst to know the Creator as your Father and your Friend. Knowing God is not the same as knowing facts about Him. You might as well read a biography of your husband or wife, and go around telling people that you know them. You don't. In order to really know someone you need to have a relationship with them. In the same way, in order to truly know God, you need to know Him through faith in Jesus Christ. “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” (John 17:3).
