The fear of the Lord has high value. A God-fearing person’s life is different. A God-fearing person takes God seriously and wants to stay God-fearing. A fear of God means that you can not describe God as if he is an equal or even less than that. If there are no respect and honour, there is a serious problem. A God-fearing person finds delight is God and in his Word. The Bible repeatedly teaches that the fear of the Lord leads to wisdom, knowledge and life. He that must be feared is he who spoke and it brought about creation. As Isaiah said, the fear of the Lord is Zions treasure, something to be kept safe, to be cherished. Jesus himself delighted in honouring the father. He himself feared the Lord. He held him in awe and showed the utmost respect. Any disrespect of God (and Christ is also God) is blasphemous, whether through our speech or behaviour. We should live to the glory of the Lord. A message by Gideon Strauss
