Philippians 4:2-3 and other passages
How do you heal broken relationships? In the first place you should be reconciled to God through faith in Jesus Christ (Rom. 5:10). Furthermore Jesus died to reconcile us to our fellow human beings (Eph. 2:14-17). How do we apply this reconciliation? The Bible’s teaching on this matter can be summed as follows:
1. Willingly seek counsel
Read Rom. 15:14, Prov. 12:15, 11:14, 15:22.
2. Purposefully avoid bitterness
Read 1 Pet. 2:1, Rom. 12:17, 19, 1 Pet. 3:8-9, Eph. 4:25, 29-30, Josh. 22:10-31, Prov. 3:4-7, 1 Cor. 13:7, Matt. 23:37-38, Rom. 2:1, Matt. 7:5, Jas. 4:1-2, 11, Exo. 20:16, Prov. 6:19, 10:18, Jas. 3:1-12, Col. 3:8, 1 Pet. 2:1.
3. Humbly pursue restitution
Read Phil. 2:3-8, Matt. 5:27-48 (27-32, 33-37, 38-42), Matt. 18:17, Luke 6:32-35, Rom. 12:17-18, 12:20-21, Col. 3:12-16, 1 Cor. 13:5-8, 1 Pet. 2:18-25, Prov. 15:1, 16:24, 18:6-8.
