The Oxford Dictionary's definition of hope contains an element of uncertainty. Someone who places his hope in his finances, success, or even some spiritual leader is doomed to be disappointed. All of these things can fail, and death will rob us of them. David’s hope was not in created things, or in any man. He hoped in the Lord, and therefore his hope was certain.
