1. How did Jesus fulfil his prophetic role while He walked the earth?
Read Mark 1:15, Luke 4:14-15, 18, 43-44, 7:16, John 6:14, 12:49, 18:37.
2. How was Moses greater than the other prophets, and how is the Lord Jesus Christ superior to them all?
Read Num. 12:6-8, Deut. 18:15, 18, Matt. 5:17-18, 21-22, Luke 24:27, 44, John 1:1, 18, Rom. 1:1-4, Heb 1:1-2.
The Qur’an calls Jesus a prophet and the Messiah who gave us the gospel, but nothing more (Surah 5:75, 19:30, 57:27). Jesus did indeed say He was a Prophet (Mark 6:4), but He also claimed to be the Son of God and He received worship (John 5:17-18, 23, 8:58, 10:30-36, 14:9, 20:28).
3. How did Jesus continue his prophetic work through the apostles?
Read John 14:26, 16:13-15, 1 Thess. 2:13, 4:8, 15, 2 Pet. 3:2, 15-16.
People sometimes say things like, “I believe what Jesus said, but I cannot accept Paul.” Or, “I know Paul rejected homosexuality, but Jesus never said a word against it.” Do these people not know that Jesus continued his prophetic ministry through the apostles, and that the writings of the apostles are the very words of Christ Himself?
4. Muslims believe that Muhammad is God’s final prophet, and that he received new revelation from God. How does the Bible refute this and every other claim of new revelation?
Read Deut. 12:32, Prov. 30:5-6, 2 Tim. 3:16, Heb. 1:1-2, Rev. 22:18-19.
Muslims will respond by saying the Bible was corrupted, but Muhammad himself believed that the Old- and New Testament of his day was authentic (Surah 4:47, 10:94).
5. Since there is no new revelation and the Bible is complete, how does the Lord Jesus Christ exercise his prophetic office in the church today?
Read 1 Cor. 12:10, 14:24-25, Acts 11:28, 2:17-18, 4:31, Matt. 28:19-20, Rom. 15:14, Eph. 2:17, 6:4, Col. 3:16, 2 Tim. 4:2, Heb. 3:13, 1 Pet. 3:15.
6. How should you submit to Jesus as God’s great Prophet, and what will happen if you refuse to submit?
Read Ps. 2:11-12, Matt. 17:5, Luke 6:46, Acts 3:22-23, 17:30, 1 John 3:23.
